Tewfik Abdallah was born in Cairo Egypt in 1896. He was given a trial by Derby manager Jimmy Methven, and impressed enough to earn his debut for the first eleven. He made his debut and made an immediate impact by scoring the opener in Derby’s 3-0 win over Manchester City. He went onto make 15 appearances between 1920 and 1922. Legacy no.296.

Tony Parry was born in Burton-on-Trent. He was Brian Clough’s very first signing as a manager when Parry signed for Hartlepool. Parry became a Derby County player when Brian Clough signed him again in January 1972.

The midfielder made his debut for The Ram’s against Airdrie in the Texaco Cup Final. The first leg was held in Scotland at Broomfield Park on January 26th 1972. Parry played in 7 matches between 1972 and 1974. Legacy no.594.

Calvin Plummer was born in Nottingham and came through the youth system Forest. He made his senior debut for Forest under Brian Clough in 1982.

Charlie Palmer was born in Aylesbury and began his career at nearby Watford. He played at right-back or in central defence, and came to Derby County in the summer of 1984 aged 21. He made his debut on August 25th against Bournemouth at Dean Court.

He played in the team that won promotion to Division 2 in the 1986-87 season and made 51 league appearances between 1984 and 1987. Legacy no.685.

Floyd Anthony Streete was born in Jamaica. A central defender, he made his professional debut for Cambridge United in the 1976-77 season.

He was signed by Arthur Cox in 1984 and made his debut for The Rams on September 22nd 1984 in an away fixture at Reading’s Elm Park. He made 41 appearances between 1984 and 1986. Legacy no.691.

John Okechukwu Chiedozie was born in Owerri State, Nigeria. He joined Leyton Orient as an apprentice in 1977 and made his senior debut. He came to Derby County in the summer of 1988 via Tottenham Hotspurs.

He started on August 27th in The Rams 1-0 win against Middlesbrough at the Baseball Ground. A number of injuries restricted him to just two appearances between 1988 and 1990. Legacy no.717.

Paul Anthony Williams was born in Burton-on-Trent. Of Jamaican descent, he joined the Derby academy and signed as a professional in 1989. He made his senior debut whilst on-loan to Lincoln City in November 1989.

His Rams debut came against Crystal Palace on March 20th 1990. He replaced Mark Patterson in Derby’s draw at Selhurst Park. He made 195 appearances between 1990 and 1995 and was top scorer with 16 goals in the 1991-92 season. Legacy no.729.

Dean Constantine Sturridge was born in Birmingham to Jamaican parents. He became a youth trainee at Derby County and was given his senior debut by Arthur Cox at the age of 18. He started away at Southend United and went onto become Derby’s main striker.

He scored 20 goals in the 1995-96 season, firing the club into the Premier League. He also scored Derby’s very first Premier League goal against Leeds at the Baseball Ground. In total, he made 214 club appearances and scored 59 goals. Legacy no.740.

Gary Andrew Charles was born in Newham, London. He made his senior debut at the age of 18 for Nottingham Forest, and became one of the country’s best right-backs winning his first England cap in 1991.

He was signed by Derby County for £750,000 in July 1993 and made his debut on August 14th 1993. He started against Sunderland in a 5-0 win at the Baseball Ground. He made 77 appearances for The Rams between 1993 and 1995 and was voted into the PFA Team of the Year 1993-94. Legacy no.752.
