Vivian Alexander Anderson MBE was born in Nottingham to Jamaican parents.
The Nottingham Forest right-back made his England debut on November 29th 1978. He started against Czechoslovakia at Wembley and became the Three Lions first Black footballer.
He won 30 caps between 1978 and 1988 and scored twice. He is also the first Black footballer to play for the Three Lions at a Euros finals (1980), and was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2004.


Laurie Paul Cunningham was born in London in 1956 and was of Jamaican descent. He made history at the age of 21 as a Leyton Orient player, when he became the first Black footballer to play for England U21’s.
Two years later he made his Three Lions debut as a West Bromwich Albion player. It came on May 23rd 1979, when he started for England against Wales at Wembley stadium.
He won 6 caps between 1979 and 1980, and was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Cyrille Regis MBE was born in French Guiana in 1958 and was of French Guianese and Saint Lucian descent. He grew up in North London after moving to England in 1963.
In 1977 he signed for West Bromwich Albion from non-league Hayes. He made his England debut on February 23rd 1982, when he replaced Trevor Francis against Northern Ireland at Wembley.
He won 5 caps between 1982 and 1987, and was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
Ricky Anthony Hill was born in London to parents of Jamaican and Indian descent. He is Luton Town's 7th player to be capped by England and the first of two Black players.
His debut came on September 22nd 1982 when he replaced Trevor Morley in a Euros qualifier against Denmark.
He became The Three Lions very first player of Asian descent and won 3 caps between 1982 and 1986.
Luther Loide Blisset OBE was born in Falmouth Jamaica. He joined Division 4 club Watford in 1975 and by 1982, his goals had move them into Division 1.
His England debut came on October 13th 1982 against Germany at Wembley. Blissett became Watford's first player to win a senior England cap.
He won 14 caps between 1982 and 1984 is the first Black footballer to score a hat-trick for England men.
Mark Valentine Chamberlain was born in Stoke to Jamaican parents. He became a professional with Port Vale but made his England debut as a Stoke City player.
On December 15th 1982 he replaced Steve Coppell during England’s 9-0 win over Luxembourg. He marked his debut by scoring his first international goal.
He went onto win 8 caps between 1982 and 1984 and is the Three Lions second Black goal scorer.

John Charles Bryan Barnes MBE was born in Kingston Jamaica to Jamaican and Trinidadian parents. He made his professional debut for Watford in 1981.
His England debut came on May 28th 1983 when he replaced Luther Blissett against Northern Ireland at Windsor Park.
He won 79 caps and scored 10 goals between 1983 and 1995. He was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2005.






Daniel Joseph Thomas was born in Worksop to Jamaican parents. He joined Coventry City in 1976 and at 18 made his senior debut.
Twice a winner of the U21’s European Championships (1982 and 1984), his senior England debut came on June 12th 1983. He started against Australia and became the second Sky Blues player to win a senior cap.
He won both of his senior caps on this tour


Brian Stein was born in Cape Town South Africa and came to England as a 7-year-old. He joined second division club Luton Town in 1977.
The centre-forward made his England debut in a leap year, on February 29th 1984. He started against France at the Parc des Princes.
This was his sole cap and the Luton Town legend is the 9th Hatters player to be capped by England.


David Lloyd Wallace (Danny) was born in Greenwich London to Jamaican parents. He joined Southampton as a schoolboy and made his senior debut at 16.
He won caps for England at youth level before making his senior debut. On January 29th 1986, he started in a 4-0 win against Egypt in Cairo. He also scored his first international goal in a 4-0 win.
It was his sole cap and he became The Three Lions 10th Black international.


David Carlyle Rocastle was born in Lewisham London in 1967 and was of Trinidadian descent. He came through the ranks at Arsenal and made his senior debut in 1985 at the age of 18.
On September 14th 1988 he made his England debut. He played 90 minutes against Denmark in a 1-0 win at Wembley stadium.
Rocky won 14 caps for the Three Lions between 1988 and 1992.
